Get Involved
Interested in being a part of the Women’s Leadership Initiative?
There are a variety of programs that you can get involved with and you can participate in any aspect of the WLI. We coordinate a mentorship program, hold regular speaking events to educate our members on opportunities after graduation, host workshops on leadership skills, and create alliances with other women’s organizations at Yale and in the professional world. Please see below for more information about our programs and the appropriate person to contact with any questions. We are always open to suggestions and new ideas too, so if you have an event you would like to see us plan or a new type of program you would like us to offer, don’t hesitate to let us know!
The Mentorship Program
The Mentorship Program plans events to strengthen relationships among WLI members from various class years and to form lasting ties with women in the workplace. The Mentorship Program pairs underclassmen with upperclassmen with similar interests and passions and hosts social events, such as happy hours and study breaks. In 2011, we were proud to expand our mentorship program by pairing upperclassmen with graduate students through a partnership with the Women in Management group from the Yale Graduate School of Management.
If you are interested in becoming a mentor or mentee, please contact Elle Brunsdale at elle.brunsdale@yale.edu.
The Speakers and Workshops Committee
The Speakers Committee takes the lead in finding successful women who represent a variety of professions, backgrounds, and ages to share their experiences with Yale students. The Committee highlights individual speakers through Master’s Teas or lectures and also arranges panels.
If you have ideas for speaker events or would like to plan workshops and panels, please contact Shikha Garg at shikha.garg@yale.edu.
The Alumnae Relations Committee
The Alumnae Relations Committee maintains communication with all types of Yale alumnae, ranging from politicians, to stay-at-home moms, to CEOs of major corporations. The Committee’s activities include planning a Job Shadowing Day, finding alumnae to speak at WLI events, publishing a regular newsletter, and identifying new opportunities for WLI members through alumnae.
If you are an alumna interested in sharing your experiences with Yale undergraduates, please contact Danielle Ellison at danielle.ellison@yale.edu.
The Business Committee
The Business Committee works on funding the important activities of WLI. It is currently applying for grants, and establishing partnerships with women’s organizations all over the world. Furthermore, the Business Committee manages the marketing for WLI activities.
